Hello everyone,
I have seen this no80 online and was wondering if anyone had any information on the design?
It has a bakelite fuze assembly with a flat lever. Anyone seen this in any documentation?
Thanks but I am trying to find out about the use of the bakelite fuze. I have seen the standard wartime design and post war drill variant, just never a bakelite fuze like pictured above.
Its being sold on PDH enterprises for £280. That is the only picture on the website.
I was interested in it because it seemed unique but cannot find any information on bakelite fuzes on no80 smoke grenades.
The pictures attached are ones I was emailed. He has 2. Sadly this one is a little broken. No markings on the lever. Its stamped CML on the end of the fuze assembly.
interesting fuse, its got the clip arrangement same as Belgium mills, lever unmarked, I'm not too clued up with post war and experiential so really out of my field
Looks like a modern pin you see on flash bangs or the next variant of smoke down from the current one in use, L69A1 2009 smoke and the so-called Bakelite fuze head is one from the same L69A1 type . There seems something not right about the lever and fuze mech, an 83 lever fitted to a later plastic fuze mech, i think the threads on both No80 and 83 are the same as the L69A1 thats why they are fitted together. I would like to see it in the flesh before i bought, i think you will be in for a disapoinment.
I had a quick look in Rick Lander's book at no81. It said it uses the striker mech no3 but if you look at the picture in the book, the no81 pictured appears to have the same bakelite fuze. Very intriguing.
