Batterie Todt - Ambleteuse, France

Hi everybody,
looking in my pictures, I found back these I made in Ambleteuse.
The museum, batterie Todt, is made in a part of the atlantic wall.
It's in Ambleteuse, France not far of the Cap Gris-Nez.
Here under you shall found my pictures.
In this period (2006), I had a little camera, not performed.
Now I have a bigger one and I must absolutely go back to Ambleteuse !

Ive been there several times in the past when i was younger. My parents often took us on day trips across the channel to Calais so they could stock up on wine and beer, and this and other museums are only a short drive along the coast towards Boulogne. Those pictures bring back lots of memories, Thanks for showing us

I've been there last week, but the ammo collection has been cut down to almost nothing. Deos anyone know wahre all those goodies went?

Or destroyed or sold. That museum was a French Government museum and when I was there in 2009 they were already selling some canons and have been told by the crew not good things about the ammo. The collection of guns and different ammo is, (or was), one of the bests I have seen across Europe and I have visited dozens of museums. French is not a good country for collect ordnance, which is sad because it is a very nice country.

Miguel no pictures from last week, but when you enter the museum, just away form the entrance, the ammo collections is nearly 20 percent of that in 2009.

I visited there earlier this month. It is still worth a visit but there is definitely less ammo there to see. Unfortunately the female receptionist gave a bad impression. It seemed that she would rather be somewhere else and that any visitors were there to annoy her. This was in stark contrast to the friendly receptionists at Mimoyecques, who took the time to explain whatever was needed.

I visited here in 2011 on way to Normandy beaches etc.
As far as I am aware at the time it was privately owned taken on by the daughter of the original owner who set it up post ww2.
I think he is dead now,remember reading on the net some years ago how he fled Calais as the Germans were entering the town.
The ordnance collection was diminished on our visit but still worth a visit.They had a pair of 3"20cwt drill rounds, so I asked if they would sell one, and they did, gave me a receipt and note if any questions asked.What a stroke of luck.I think they needed the money,
maybe that's why the collection has been reduced.I only enquired about the drills as they had 2 the same.
there is another gun implacement nearby which is blown up,did not see this one. apparently many years ago 2guys entered
one of these,found some ammunitions remains, and blew themselves up. There is also suppose to be some German wartime
grafity on the walls in one of these gun implacements, from memory I think there were 3 emplacements here altogether.
