A new project. Here is a rising question, is it restoration or repro.

A new project. Here is a rising question, is it restoration or repro.

You have a really remarkable skill and the end result is superb.

For me I would be extremely happy with such a restoration in my collection as I know how it was achieved.
It may be that in the future someone buys such an item and then sells it as all original.

It is not so much cost; the question for me is the principal of selling such a restoration right or wrong?

If i shell at this box as restored one, i think it`s ok. Of course buyer must now that. My collection is so little yet and the most items goes thereinto :tinysmile_classes_t

Some items more.

Please keep the photos coming.

Yes, lots projects bide your time.

I`ve got Nb.K.L.42 tube and after first speak with seller i didn`t expect there are so fine shape of metal and finally so many paint coming up. Depends on nature of corrosion, sometimes it`s possible to get very good result.
This Nb. tube has been used after war for benzine vessel.

This watermark is like my crafter mark. If someone like to get a original picture without warermark just let me know. I would be happy to help someone who make his research or public work. Adduce this site is nice and respectable http://wehrmachts.kisten.free.fr/

By the way who knows what happened to germanmilitaria.co.uk website?

Good bargain here, cost about 3 euro. Two different techniques of restoration were used, electrolysis for cleaning the cases and acid solution for the rack. Usually if there any hope to see original paint i will use acid and neutralize with sodium carbonate. This one is not good example, because impairment of rust is too large on the surface and only flat coat still extant.

Fantastic sympathetic restoration Endel, I'm full of admiration of what you do with the items you have.

Superb!!

Kind regards
Kev

I didn`t expect such a good result as here on the following picture. Interesting is, that the electrolysis saved the original layer of oxigene, usually it doesn`t happen, it takes all off.

Playing with iron and paint

So, i found one 8,8 cm blank shell body from iron stack, without fuze and baseplug, no explosives of course! Nothing less, even paint, so i desided to make something. Usually i do not do this trick of eyesight. Result here, no original paint.

This time electrolysis used, when the same of original paint is preserved i use oxalic acid.
