Bird Dog rocket ?

The picture shows 2.75" FFAR rockets in tube launchers. The Bird Dog aircraft was used as a spotter.

I think its just a mix of the Bird Dog name, one for a rocket, one for the aircraft?. As far as i know, the 2.75" FFAR did not use a prox fuzed warhead.

The birddog planes normally fired 2.75 inch FFARs with WP warheads to mark targets for the other planes, making a white smoke cloud at the target area. Proximity fuzes are available, but they are used on the 10 and 17 Lb. HE warheads.

The red WH in the photos is a practice HEAT WH and the others are 6.5 Lb. practice warheads. It should not be painted red.
