Bomb Locating,

EODONE

Ordnance Approved
The attachment is a snap of a team from the Bomb Disposal, RE, Horsham taken during a happy snap break in a back garden in Margate. The tool being used is a 9" earth auger which we manage to get down some 25feet we would do these in paterns of 3 holes at the apex or corners of a triangel at 3 feet centres then lower down a Locator which was known or called the ERA Bomb Locator once the bomb was located a 9 x 8 Foot timber shaft would be sunk to recover the bomb , in this case a 250kg. yes we had all the best kit, note Spr sat on auger being used for a weight & and it worked. taken in 1965.:tinysmile_twink_t2:
