These are not experimental devices but regular issue ww2 USN float markers "Night Drift Signal AN-Mk4" length 330mm diameter 76mm weight 0.9kg - central cylindrical is made of wood containing the pyrotechnical tube (32mm diameter, 10cm length) , ogive in pessure-molded metal and fins in sheet metal. Light emission duration: 3 to 3.5 minutes. On the ogive there is a "tab" intended for destabilizing underwater trajectory (this thing is supposed float not go and loof for an underwater target) . A longer version also existed the An-Mk5 (same diameter 76mm but length 483mm) with a flat-nosed ogive (of same diameter as the rest of the bomb) weight 1.5kg duration of illumination: 15 to 17 minutes
