length and diameter in inches would help, however below at right end of image shows the brass percussion element used to ignite the wooden time fuse in a RML projectile.

Hi John,thanks for the reply. The item measures 15/16"(24mm)wide by 1-1/8" tall(28mm). It is definitely British,with the vent hole replicating that on a Hotchkiss pattern base fuse used in British service.Its not the item shown in your illustration. Thanks again Tig.
