yeah! dont do it.
if you have to just use some diluted soap on a cloth and wipe around.
seriously,i dont clean brass. But thats me i like to see the age of a thing

Sometimes its even worth adding a coat of clear varnish to the case to make sure the stencils don't get lost in the future. I agree, if there are stencils then be very very careful on how you clean the case.
