Got this at Chatham from a box of WW1 relics. Solid brass, diameter 60mm. Looks like something I've seen described as a filler cap for a bomb. Does anyone have any further information?
These were transport caps for the shells to keep them safe until the fuze was screwed on. I've seen other British ones with a slotted head for removing the cap. That's about all I know about them..Dano
