Yes folks it's real enough and the design was registered in 1900--- :tinysmile_hmm_t:

But now for something Serious-----

The base is marked as shown, This is Not the Maxim Nordenfelt mark as
shown on the two projectiles in the rather dark image. I have seen the same on 3 Pdrs, a Nordenfelt 42mm etc.

I think this may be the earlier Maxim Co. mark pre 1889.

Has any one else seen this before ? Perhaps cartridge collectors might have seen this?

Gordon, I for one have not seen that mark before! Thanks for posting it. The Nordenfelt/Maxim mark on the other hand is present in my collection in a number of examples.

Has no one seen this mark before --

There are a Gazzilion 1 Pr. projectiles in the UK --- I can't have the only one with this M mark -- or am I ???

Bottoms up Lads, have a look:tinysmile_twink_t:

If you don't see any of the usual marks on the side it's worth a peek at the bottom.

*****It may not go back to the Maxim Gun Co if at that time the 1 Pdrs. weren't being made.
