British 80/44 combination question

having found this 80/44 with the correct adaptor inside a shell yesterday, I was wondering if the percussion cap was retained on the 44 or was it removed, allowing the No.80 to ignite the No.44 charge. The cap has been removed from this 44 but that might have been part of the demil procedure.

Any thoughts?

thanks, Dave

It is present, but it's not a percussion cap, it's a detonator.
