British Army Mortar Designations(2,3,4.2-inch)

Dear members,

I am looking for detailed technical data and cross-section images of British mortar ammunition—specifically for the 2-inch, 3-inch, and 4.2-inch mortars.

I am particularly interested in the internal structures and fuzing mechanisms of the following types:

• HE

Smoke

• WP

• Illumination

If anyone has scanned copies of Technical Manuals (TM) or high-resolution diagrams showing the internal components, I would be most grateful if you could share them.

If it is more convenient, please feel free to send any relevant files to my email address: trew2003@gmail.com

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Thank you for the feedback.

I have already reviewed the 2-inch material.

I recently recovered 3-inch mortar rounds after an RSP. Since the MK2 and MK3 have identical exterior shapes, I am looking for diagrams to understand how to distinguish between HE (High Explosive) and WP (White Phosphorus) when they are identified in the field. There is not much data available on British ammunition, so I am reaching out to you.

Your data saves my life.

I am currently collecting data on 2-inch, 3-inch, and 4.2-inch mortars for my records. If you have internal structural diagrams for each type, please share them with m

Would anyone who owns this manual be willing to share the diagrams for the 3-inch mortar variants?

Sorry to be obtuse, but if you are conducting RSP on UXO then you should be operating under a tech support regime which should be able to supply information of this sort.

EOD tech data for support of RSP is not something you should be seeking on a public collectors web site! There are international arrangements for sharing tech data which are accessible by bona fide EOD authorities.

Yes, I understand this is a sensitive matter.

I will only use the information for reference.

Since British ammunition is unfamiliar to me, I was simply looking for data to study it further.
