British L1A2 Grenade Cartirdge Spam Can

I picked this can up at the Reno gun show last week and thought it was pretty interesting. We see lots of various loadings of U.S. grenade cartridges packed in the M13 spam can but I had never seen a British one. Was this a normal packaging method for U.K. launching rounds? Common or scarce over there too? Thanks.
