British Mortar 3.63 inch

The one on the left is the one in question, I have never heard of this size of British Mortar, it is wider than the 3 inch on the left, as you can see the inks on the fin is B.E LOT No 1, any comments appreciated,thanks

It looks like a 3" Mortar with the tail re-marked as made by BE in 1963 ?
The mortar maker is usually stamped on the body.

The diameter is larger than the standard 3" mortar, around half an inch

I have been informed it was an experimental mortar before deciding on the 81mm in the 50s & 60s

This reminds me of the Australian 60mm Mortar experimentals that I have but were not accepted. Nice item
