British Practice Bomb

I wish to ask if this is a British practice bomb from WW1 or inter-war years? It has an iron body with sheet metal tail. The nose plunger connects to a sheet metal tail insert which possibly held a smoke or indicator cartridge. There is a hole in one tail fin. How is this bomb used? Is it hand dropped or released some other way? I refer to a previous thread from 2016 that shows a different model ID as British.

Thanks MINENAZ16. Nice diagram. I had no references so now I have a positive ID. I guessed it was British.
