Just for interest I thought to post pictures of the 3 types of separate loading 4in naval gun cases in service during WW1. The first is the Mk I, II and III 368mm long, rim 137mm. The second is the Mk4, length 493mm and rim 134mm and finally the Mk5 of length 700mm and rim 141mm. The change in these cases indicates the race for more powerful weapons as WW1 approached. The Mk4 and Mk5 have fixed ammunition variants, I will dig out the cases for these.
