British WW2 Short 95mm case

Good evening, I have a British 1944 dated case with an unusual headstamp - 95mm SP & INF.

it’s much shorter, 73mm, than the normal 95mm case. It doesn’t appear to be cut down but is it? Is anyone aware of a short cased 95mm?

many thanks, Dave

I'm not sure that it has been cutdown. I've certainly had both types in my collection in the past, and have a vague recollection of the separate loading case being very similar to the 3.7-inch How case. I'll see if I can dig out some data. Depotman

Tankbarrell stated in the thread I referenced previously that the SP & INF case was 92mm long, so I think this case has been cut down.

I am away from home and cannot check my books to confirm.

My example is packed away due to a move at the moment but I might be able to find it to check.

If you search for 95mm and look on the second page you will see a post from me which shows the same case.
Hoeksel is correct the length should be about 91 or 92mm.
Merry Christmas!
