Bulgarian RGO 78 - Info needed

I recently saw an RGO 78 for sale (no picture yet - sorry).

According to lexpev.nl it was the standard body (not the one for export). The body looked like this:

However, the fuze on the grenade for sale is the UZRGM fuze, the one with the pink spoon.

Can anyone confirm that this fuze (the UZRGM fuze) is also used on this grenade body?

Thanks.

The "pink Spoons" are for practice only. I don't believe that the RGO-78 had a pink spoon on this particular modelyou are showing. In other words there should be no pink spoon on this LIVE (INERT) RGO-78. I also beleve that this model was the last production model grenade for the USSR. After that they went with the M75 (Plastic grenade) which was all plastic with very small bb's in it. The RGO has what is called the DVM fuse. The fuse was an attempt by the Russians to go towards a "Bouchon" type grenade/igniter. Hope this helps you out. I am sure Johni/ will be around to give you more information.

Hi, As already stated, the pink spoons are for practice grenades. However, HE spoons are easy to get and you shouldn't let the practice spoon put you off. Hope the photo helps, Cheers Colin

You mean a HE UZRGM fuze?

Lexpev is mentioning 2 different body sizes (height). Can you tell by the height which fuze should be on the grenade?

BTW, thanks for all the replies! :)

Hi, I am unsure about the different body sizes. I know that they are shipped without the fuze and that they were found in Iraq with both the DVM and UZRGM assemblies. When fitted with the UZRGM fuze the grenades overall length is longer than when fitted with the DVM. Maybe that's what they mean:neutral:, or maybe they are referring to the practice version. Cheers

Oh yeah, guess that's what Lex meant.. :$ :D

Thanks for the info. I'll look out for a UZRGM. :)

Today i've got the opportunity to buy a demilled 'live' rgo78 with AWM-78 fuze.
Looks like a bulgarian export one with rgo markings and 22 mfg code (pictures will follow after arrival)

Does someone has a detailed drawing/image for that fuze? (or the other fuzes DVM or DRM used on the rgo78)

Thanks,
Geert.

No such fuze like "AWM-78". DVM-fuzes are used with this grenade.

Aha, that's the reason why i couldn't find that specific fuze type.
I just know what the seller has told me.... I'll find it out when it gets here.
Thanks for the drawing.

Geert.

someone confused the D cyrillic like an A...

I suppose it was indeed a cyrillic typo the seller made.
The RGO has arrived this morning, and has clearly a DVM marked fuze mounted on it.
Anybody who knows for wich country this one was made? marking 7 on bottom.

Geert.

Mine has a "6" on the bottom.. Markings (size, font, position) thesame as yours.. Wasn't this one made in Bulgaria?

I tought the double circled 22 was indeed a Bulgarian Manufacturer.
But the fact that RGO is written in 'latin' text means it was ment for export.
Non-export grenades had cyrillic text.

Yep, that's what Lex has on his site.. :)

Indeed, That's the reason i wanted to know more :xd:

I think the 36 on the lever is a mfg code as well as the 7 on the bottom of the body. They could point to a certain (slavic?) country

It is correct that the bulls-eye circles with the 22 is the factory code, indicating that it was produced in Bulgaria, just not for use there. Being made for export is still made in Bulgaria, just means someone wanted western nomenclature. Bulgaria makes plenty of stuff to sell outside, or at least did for the last 20 years or so. We found tons when we went into Kuwait.

The pics at Lexpev show a piece of black plastic/rubber between the fuze and the body.. Any idea? Just asking, because I am looking for a DVM fuze..
