Hi again all, I have here 4 WWI German 9mm rounds. I understand the head stamps but is there any significance to the letters and numbers on the base of the rounds. I haven't seen this before.:tinysmile_eyebrow_t Any info most greatly received. Wooly

I posted this on another forum for you, the guys on there are really knowledgable so I'm pretty sure this is right. The stamps indicate who manufactured the bullets.
No. 1 (278 G):
278G is from Deutsche Waffen u. Munitionsfabriken (DWM), Karlsruhe, Germany and is their catalog number for an 8 gram round nose FMJ bullet.
Case also made by DWM.
No. 2 (Ge):
Gustav Genschow & Company (GeCo), Durlach, Germany
Case also made by GeCo.
No. 3: (Gothic "n")
Rheinisch-Westflische Sprengstoffe (RWS) A-G, Nrnberg, Germany
Case made by H. Utendoerffer, Nuremberg, Germany.
No. 4 (Gothic "M"):
Knigliches Munitionsfabrik Spandau, Spandau, Germany.
