C 219 Bofors box markings

I recently picked up this C219 box with its card containers. Do any members know the meaning of S/ESPL. on the lid (possibly post war Portuguese use?).
Thanks for any help.

Q',

Could you post an image of the packing label (inside the lid)? It might shed some light on the marking on the obverse.

Q',

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I can't see anything in that label to explain the markings. Hopefully there will be someone who can inform us of its meaning.

Nice clear packing label though and in good condition.

Interesting to note that the Bofors shells were Mk IV T in early 1943.

I always though that IV T was postwar and that we only used Mk I T and II T during WW2.

Later war handbooks are a bit thin on the ground.
