From another forum ; what is the designation of the black cartridge (red flare) ?

Safe to store?

I am wondering if there is any danger of spontaneous ignition of these two. They are signal star flares, and they are split open. I generally dont worry about ammo (I have a lot of shooting ammo on hand…), but these do make me want to ask the EOD guys here. Thank you. CIL 10 CANUCK...

The black flare is either a Mk X1T or Mk X11T Red flare single star. (Like the UK ones).
Made by either IFS or TWH . IFS had branches in USA and Canada.
International Flare & Signal Co, Canada. T.W.Hand & Co, Canada.
I do not have this short black case in my collection so possibly hard to find?
