Car boot mystery…

£15 quid so I’m very pleased….. 3.7” / 96mm no ogive, no markings whatsoever, looks like there was a base fuse as it’s a 45mm threaded hole.

Can’t find this in any of my books….

Any suggestions what it is?

Looks like a British Navy 4in common pointed.

I did look at that - but it’s too long, the band is too low and all the pics i found had an ogive and were about 13” long

There were probably many variants, but all the ones I see have a much shallower taper and the driving band isn’t even close

It's definitely not one of those, which is much shorter with a different driving band.

Sometimes we find this shell in France (same size, same shape, same band) used as practice (ww1) with a No 12 fuze with a cross for practice.
