Im not as exbert, but I have a WW1 version, with a different early style fuse.Yours looks very very nice.I have not seen one that is in 2 pieces like yours,or is that how it was demilled. You might check out,inertordanace.com or inertordanace.net.
That is a very rare grenade, and is not in a lot of collections. From my understanding they were made of heavy paper, varnished to keep mosture out and impregnated with a tary substance.
They were basically made to stun the enemy in the trenches of the great war without killing them in hope of gaining useful information.I hope that helps some. You would have to spend a lot of money to get mine,if it was for sale.vinny :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

I didn,t say it would not kill, but it is not as lethal as a frag grenade. As described in the web site.:tinysmile_angry2_t::tinysmile_angry2_t:

Of course, because it is an Offensive type grenade. You were right on this:
This type of Hand Grenade originated in WWI (March 1918) .

Hi. So many MkIII A1s have been faked that it is one of those unfortunate grenades that seem to have devalued, with people assuming most/all of those offered for sale are reproductions. The easiest way to identify a reproduction is with the labels, but with these being easy to remove or replace its definitely a case of buyer beware. Heres a couple of pics of a reproduction that has been offered for sale a couple of times via online auctions. Note that the body is the same, but the fuze has been changed. Thanks for showing us a pic of your ones. Cheers

You no I sort of remember reading some where that the repo,s all have the same lot number,as you show.:tinysmile_tongue_t:

Surelly now fakers changed the lot numbers.

I have always assumed that these were made by the same person(s) at around the same time. I suspect modern reproductions would be very hard to detect. Cheers

Hi:
With your hand is impossible to see if the fuze head is the right one or not. Left fuze for TNT grenades, right fuze for powder fillling.
