Hi. Whilst not into ammunition as such, Ive always liked the Drill .303 rounds as they fit with the uniforms and rifles I collect. Hopefully theyll be of interest to those into small arms ammunition. They are dated 1942. Cheers

These New Zealand Local Pattern Drill rounds are interesting. They are only found with 1940 or 1942 dates and the blackened finish is reminiscent of the British Dummy Drill Mark V from 1917.

Some time around 1960 these rounds were chrome plated to approximate the recently introduced British Drill D Mark 10,(see attached picture) and some had the flutes painted red.

If you have a spare wrapper I would be interested in trading something with you.

The chrome plated drill round was prepared for the Queen Elizabeth coronation visit to New Zealand in 1953 and are the 1942 headstamped round only. The book of Whitney's Heritage by Barry Gracia explained there use. Hope this helps.
