Base markings; Left side 4 , top centre K , right side 257 steel primer, three notches.

As Fred said, probably a cartridge case for a Russian/Soviet-developed 130 mm M-46 towed field gun. If so, the brass case would be the 54-G-482 (54-Г-482) model.
The 54-G-482 case is ≈846 mm long, has a neck diameter of ≈143 mm, and a rim diameter of ≈185 mm. They should weigh ≈11.4 kg.
Thanks, well the primer is badly rusted, but all this confirms it's Russian origin then.
