"CBU-Gray" filler

The only time I have encountered "CBU", it was in relation to the Swingfire anti-tank missile and meant "Command Break-Up", which was a method of terminating the flight of the missile on command, for example if it turned around and came back at the launch vehicle. The ammunition you are showing is presumably of American origin. I note the letters "VT" are associated with it - "Variable Time", i.e.proximity fuze? Perhaps some of our US members may be able to throw some light on this and answer your question better than I can.
