Bought these from my local charity shop for 1.49 each.
Are they hispano cartridges??
the headstamps are...
S.M.C 1942 M21 20mm
and
ASC 1942 M21 20mm

Amazing what you can find:tinysmile_shy_t:

Hispano cases.

HiRavenhook, yes they are Hispano and at 1-49 neach thats a good price !

Have not yet got a headstamp book but someone here will tell you where they were made and by whom !
Off the top of my head I think they are American in origen.

20mm

I don't have my US codes to hand, but ASC wil be an American manufacturer, not Portuguese. The M21 desgnation in the headstamp is the US model for the 20mm Hispano.

BTW, why would the Germans have overun the plant? Portugal was neutral in WW2.

I would agree that ASC was a US manufacturer although i can find next to nothing on it.

Not much help i know but i will keep looking.
Best Weasel.

ASC is A.S. Campbell Co. Inc, Boston. Massachusetts, USA.

I don't know anything else about this company, eg. what else they made.
