Coal dust explosion

I understand that the second explosion on the Lusitania was due to a thermobaric explosion of coal dust flung into the air by the first torpedo hit and set off when it touched the furnace mouths. What precautions were taken to prevent such a thing happening in warships. Most of the ships at Jutland were coal burning and many were hit several times but not fuel air munition problems.
