Cordite Stamp on 18 Pounder Case

Hi, I bought this Mk1 18Pdr case recently and noticed it has the word 'Cordite' very lightly stamped into it. I've added a second coloured in photo as it's hard to see on the 1st one. Has anyone else got a case with this stamped onto it? I now they stencilled other information onto cases but this is definitely pressed into the brass?
Anyway, just thought i'd share.

Hi Ben,
the word cordite may not be stamped,some paints will etch into brass,I have an example of a 30mm Rarden round that the stenciling on the side of the case was still visable because of this(lucky for me as the case had been 'cleaned' when I got it and was able to re-do it!)
