BTW: there are 'Z's on everything and no holes either. Seems to be a Z under the heavy paint on the body.
Question - where can I buy a gas check plate for this piece?

Hi Reg,
there may be a Z on the centre tube, indicating its made of zinc. I dont think there is a Mills gren body maker with the initials 'Z'. I suspect it is a different letter or combination thereof.

There is a guy named dug up selling gas checks on SA or Feebay or on his own website. They are repro's though. Hope this helps.

Hello, there is a New Zealand 36M maker that marked nPz, made Palmerston North, New Zealand. Any chance of a pic?

I think this Mills is by by the rarer contractor WDC [Wolverhampton Die Castings] but has NO delivery makers mark such as "K" or "JPS"
Check my earlier post for pics: "What do you make of this Mills Bomb?"

Hi Reg,

WDC were zinc die casters, i dont think they made the bodies, just the fillers centre tubes and plugs. The body may need stripping to get the full info but that would be a shame.
