Difference between No. 9 and No. 10 gaines?

Would anyone know the difference between the No. 9 and No. 10 gaines? I can’t find a drawing or description for the No. 10 and they look visually the same (probably a minor difference).

I want to use the naval No. 10 gaine I have under a No. 80/44 fuze on an early WW2 era 3” 20 cwt AA round. Documentation (1936 Treatise) indicates that the 80/44 could be used with a No.9 gaine and I think the No. 10 is a suitable substitute.

The unfilled gaine I have is stamped: No. 10, AN (Australian Navy), MF (maker Munitions Footscray), 41 (1941), 22 (lot 22).

Thanks, Graeme

Graeme,

I think the only difference is that the No. 9 has a shutter only, whereas the No. 10 has a shutter and locking weight.
