Digging them UP

EODONE

Ordnance Approved
It's all well and good the Germans dropping the Dam Bombs but but when it comes to digging them up than that's another story. The attachment is a "Caldweld" boring rig it could bore a hole 44 feet deep 9 feet diameter and was lined with sections on fibre glass panels that after about 15 feet would go "Egg Shaped" & that's when it became dodgy, later a set of insets called strong rings was introduced this was a much safer idea and then some time in late 70's the "Dutch Metal ring" liner was developed.

This site was Great Staughton in August 1966 and a 250kg phosperous bomb was removed.
