ACM is Ames Crosta Mills, Heywood, Lancs. Reject castings were quite common and were utilised as drill grenades as denoted by the five holes; they had all the components fitted. Many of the contracts for drill items were undertaken by John Pilling and Sons, in Colne, so your ACM body was probably shipped up the road to Pillings for finishing as a drill item.

I have not found one of these with out the holes in as yet but see plenty of practice ones,,,,, Dave
