This came with another box I wanted. I didn't recognise it and on arrival it turns out to be a 1944 E33. I don't know what E series boxes were used for. It isn't in the best condition, obviously missing its lid, but also two metal straps, screwed into holes in the side, that would keep the lid on in the typical manner for British wooden ammo boxes. There was a third wooden strip nailed to the centre of the base parallel to the outer two but prised this off to read the type number. No other markings visible, though I suspect it was painted Service brown originally. Lots of metal strapping, so I guess contents were heavy. Internal measurements 12.5x10 inches.

Does anyone know what this box would have been used for?
