Hello all, just joined the forums. I'm wondering if anyone has decoded East German (DDR) date codes on munitions. For instance, an RKG-3CU could be marked 06-13-84, or an RGD-5 06-16-88. I've also seen some smoke grenades marked in this format "NVA 53 202 509". I'm assuming for the two hand grenades that the last 2 digits are a year of production, 84 or 88 in that example, but the smoke grenade doesn't match this format. Does anyone have insight?
