Egg grenade M39

Well-Known Member
I expect most of you are familiar with the German M39 egg grenade (eihandgrenate). I have one (ex WaffenAmt).

What is slightly bothereing me is that there seems to be no way of exposing the main cavity for inspection without vandalizing the thing. All I can do is weigh it. A complete specimen weighs 230g including 112g main charge. Since my M39 weighs about 100g, I am convinced that it is inert! Is there another way?

Tony.
