There were still a few flying in South Africa until an accident in 2009.

The British authorities will apparently not issue airworthiness certificates to civilians for Lightnings.

saw the last one to fly at Farnborough air show it was spectacular but what do you expect from an all engine aircraft made to intercept high planes as fast as possible.
