Here are some photos of a 105mm Abbott SPG (location withheld). Some people had wondered into the impact area and had headed toward a range target as they photographed it it started to smoke (it had been set alight for night firing. The steel heats up to give an Infra red signature). Luckily they moved away.

Whilst taking some more photos blind ammo that had been moved to the target during a clearance ignited with spectacular results. not HE but old propellant it is thought.

photos sent to me via email. Note this was about 2004 I am told.
