First post on BOCN, also any idea about value of WW1 British "toffe apple" mortar?

Hi all!

This is my first post, I hope to learn a lot more about ordnance from you guys, my knowledge is pretty weak right now! My first question is: What is the value of a WW1 vintage British 2in "toffee apple" mortar, it has what appears to be original yellow paint on the head and has a brass transport plug. Any ideas?

Cheers i'll definitly consider it. I did'nt realise that the lengths of the tails varied, was this to do with range or just transport and storage issues?

Hi Spiteace, the standard 2" toffee apples all have the same length stalks, although the stalk is not always 2" in width, from what I understand the thinner ones are used with silencers. In the photo on specialist auctions there's the usual 2" toffee apple and a couple of Vickers 1.58" toffee apples, these are usually a bit rarer. I've never paid more than 60 for a 2" toffee apple, the Vickers ones are usually worth about 125-150ish.
