flare cartridge case? ID requested please

please see the attached photos. 15cm in length and 1.3cm in diameter. The primer was screw in but must have had a wide flange to it. Any thoughts as to what it might be, country of origin etc?

Looks like the inner tube of a french flare cartridge without the cardboard at the end.

I agree with rigby. I have two chenilles and one is the length as shown 150mm brass but 166mm overall the wad and threaded nut.
I also have a red Chenille which is 167mm brass body and 187mm overall length with the wad and threaded nut.
Definitely from a French flare cartridge 25x100mm case. The threaded bit is missing from the item shown.
