Found in a roof space

On monday i had a call from some fellow contractors who thought they had found something that i might just be interested in.

This was found in a roof space stuck between some timber joists and is completely dead.

Any ideas on what this once was chaps.

Thanks Kev,and i have done a breif search only turning up a distance picture but makes sense as
it was mentioned that they were ex naval shells ,so i guess thats nailed it.
