hi, please see the attached photo of the headstamp of an 1882 11mm GRAS cartridge. I am puzzled as to why there appears to be 2 manufacturers codes. Presumably ART is for Atliers de Construction de Tarbes but what is the 'T S over A' and why apparently 2 manufacturers codes? The bullet is lead filled brass if that makes a difference.

many thanks, Dave

Hi,
ART is not a manufacturer code, it is for "ARTILLERIE" because in France until the end of WW1 ammunition manufacturers depend of the Artillery service. The right manufacturer code for this case is TS (atelier de construction de Tarbes)
