There are millions of these, I even think it is against the law not to have one or more ~ (sort of like 18Pdr lamps over here!)

But we all have them with their lumpy unfinished bottoms --- so when did this "Massive" decline in quality start ?

It seems in 1915 when the French Navy 1pr guns started to go to the front and the need for these almost useless things was seemingly endless~
