Could someone please provide a photo or photo's of the little metal lever on the detonator, actuated by the bullet as it passes through the grenade.

Thanks,

Robert

Robert,

You might want to clarify if you are asking about the French VB or the U.S. version as there is a difference in that part. The original French grenade has a raised firing pin bump, like it was produced with a hammer and punch. The American version has a rib or raised bar to help assure a positive strike against the rimfire initiator.

Thanks for the pic's and the diagram. The quality is fine.

As for as US or French.........I have no idea. I did not know there were two versions. I'm slowly trying to educate myself on these types of details. However, I have yet to find an adequate reference source for U.S. grenades that is still in print or even available through rare book sources.

I have a VB that I picked up last year. It seems complete except for the piece in question. I wanted a picture that showed enough of the item to replicate it reasonably accurately. Can you tell what type of metal it is made of?

Robert,

Acording a second drawing i have (see attachment), the striker for the US 'Viven Bessire' is made of sheet steel...
