Fuze, Bomb, Nose, T, M, T56 Query

A couple of questions on the US T56 mechanical time nose fuze:

Any idea of the dates of use?

Did this fuze get standardised and receive an Mxx or AN-Mxx number?

A pal of mine picked up a wooden shipping crate for ten of these at the weekend in the UK and we'd both be interested to know a little more about the original contents.
