Hi,
A friend of mine has a 155mm Howitzer shell an would like to put a correct fuze on it for his display. I'm not great with modern stuff so was wondering if anybody could tell me what fuzes were put on a 155mm How Prac Flash RO24-05.
Many thanks in advance!
Dan.

The 155mm RO designed prac-flash projectile did not have a conventional nose fuze. It was fitted with a PRF (Plug Representing Fuze) in the nose and had a base fitted Impact Indicator B118A1 which provided the flash/smoke and noise associated with an HE shell burst but was designed not to fragment the shell.
I may have some diagrams if your friend wishes to see how the shell was fitted out.
An advisory note for you and him - please be 100% certain that there is not a live Impact Indicator in the shell that you have. If there any doubts please contact the authorities. The II unit has a total of approx 39grams of HE and pyrotechnic within it.

Thanks for the help there exat, I'm 100% sure that the munition is inert, he just wanted it to look authentic in his display! :)
But yes, if you have any pictures or diagrams of the set up that would be really handy, thank you.
Dan.

Hope this helps. The B118A1 details are on a Restricted publication and cannot be reproduced here.
