Hi

Would be grateful for ID on this please. Found in Greater London. Same size as a brass anti-aircraft fuze and as heavy. Some writing on it as can be seen in pics. The top is spiral-grooved but doesn't get to the top. May not be military at all. Think the manifacturer is T.I.G Co. Think the numbers on this photo are 6740. Thanks!

anti air craft fuse

Looks like a fuse to me and numbers stand for 6 month 1940 ie 6/40 the spiral bit at the top is for the powder train to burn down to set the shell to explode at the desired height. Not and expert and just guessing could it be from 3.7 inch A/A
someone with more knowledge on the subject will positively identify it for you . Anyway a nice relic of the blitz?
