What kind of German HE shell of 10,5 cm is this. Should be a F.H. Granate 38 rot.
Only the length is 482 mm, while most HE shell of this model with a A.Z. 23 are 489,2 mm.

Also the weight is normal class III and this one is II. And what is the filling R8?

Greetings - Antoon

Repainted with red band to denote "rot" version.
R8 indicates smoke marker No8
I assume 482mm could be correct considering the manufacturing tolerance

So the weight class ( II) could be correct for a little shorter projectile.

It's better to use the length without fuze for identification. For this the tolerance is 390,9 mm - 395,2 mm.

Is it made from one piece or with screwed head piece? There are so many 10,5 shells - I doubt it's a F.H.Gr. rot

I only have the picture, so I can not see if it is with a screwed head. Maybe is it repainted incorrect by a collector.
