Information on the 10cm Nebelwerfer 40:
Few examples of the 10cm Nb 40 ever saw service with the Nebeltruppen for it entired service in 1940 just as the units for which it was intented were changing over to rocket equipments. It was very complex and featured a complicatedbreech loading mechanism not unlike that used on the 7.5cm leIG18. The main asset of the Nb 40 was its range of up to 6350m when firing HE, but its primary purpose was firing smoke and chemical rounds. These rounds were propelled using a short cartridge case loaded with a primary charge and up to three auxiliary charges.
