German 17 cm Minenwerfer

I recently obtained a German 17 cm Spr. M.16 Minenwerfer shell with reinforced base. This was done to withstand the increased charge but when came this in use. Found some drawings on the internet showing a shell with the reinforced base but have no clue what the designations Herta, Paula, Dora, Marga, Thea and Sara stand for other than the phonetic alphabet in German. What do these Model id's mean?

The names designate different constructions of the shell body. Many different types existed.

Thought as much but what would be those different specs in relation to the type id.?

Regards, Jan

Hello, good luck to ID, lot of models (different constructions, especially bases of projectiles).
German ww1 original doc shows 32 different HE models.

My documentation only mentions a couple of the HE models. Curious to know where I can find information on the other HE models you refer to.
